Being a group with Equatorial Guinea, Sierra Leone and South Africa, team "Super Eagles" predicted easily qualify for the second phase of African Zone qualifying. For coach seats, Nigeria lifted Shaibu Amodu, who took over from Germany coach Berti Vogts.
